COOL JAZZ
featuring
BLUE LIGHT TRIO
and
CATRIONA FALLON
and her band

COOL JAZZ 1…

OUR FINAL SUMMER CONCERT KICKS OFF with the Blue Light Trio, comprising Tracey Collins on accordion, Alan MacDonald on cojon and Pascal Roggen on electric violin.

Brought together through happenstance, synchronicity and canine misadventure, the Blue Light Trio is a group you shouldn’t miss.

Having performed together for the first time at the Tauranga Jazz Festival, their carefree performances in a wide variety of genres have led to them attracting a large cohort of dancers and smiling patrons.

Tracey Collins is New Zealand’s premier accordion performer and has travelled the world, wowing audiences with her fantastic skills and her wicked smile. She has worked with the likes of Hello Sailor, Bic Runga and Annie Crummer, has won numerous awards, and always brings her flair and energy to the stage.

Alan MacDonald has performed Latin Jazz with his own band for over twenty years and with a variety of artists from all over the globe. He performs rhythm on the cajon – a percussion instrument of Peruvian origin (and if you’d like to know more he’ll be happy to tell you!).

Pascal Roggen will wow you with his five-string electric violin and marionette-like stage performance. He can pull on a wide array of strings to delight and surprise the audience.

Pascal has performed around the world in festivals from WOMAD and Woodford to Glastonbury, working in genres as diverse as jazz, electronic dance music, folk, rock, Cuban and more.

COOL JAZZ 2…

THE SECOND HALF OF THE SHOW features Caitríona Fallon and her band.

An accomplished performer with a spine-tingling voice, Caitriona, who is originally from Ireland, began her singing career as lead vocalist with the Riverdance world tour.

Caitriona is well-known in the Bay of Plenty for her performance in Tarnished Frocks and Divas, where she blew everyone away with her version of Snow Patrol’s ‘Run’.

Caitríona will perform a mix of jazz and blues by artists such as Norah Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Caro Emerald – and many more.

Caitriona’s band features some of the Bay’s most experienced musicians: Leon Gray on piano, Wayne Melville on bass, Aaron Wright on guitar, and Marc Anderson on drums.

Be ready for some cool sounds!
