Katikati Twilight Concerts heading

The Hipstamatics

Saturday January 5th
Haiku Reserve
Main Street, Katikati

Saturday 5th of January saw the kick-off of the 2019 Katikati Twilight Concerts. A stunning evening in the Haiku Reserve was made extra-special by the addition of some great talent.

MC Tony Amos introduced Kevin Evans from the Concert Committee to present three tertiary scholarships to young ladies going on to study in the Arts. Sophie Gibson, Brooke Sinclair and Samara Dodinski were all recipients of Twilight Concert disbursements and they each publicly thanked the committee and talked about their plans for the future.

Sophie treated the crowd to a couple of songs in the second half of the show and was very well received.

Bree Rose from Waihi Beach opened the show with songs inspired by Amy Winehouse and Gin Wigmore. She’s been writing songs since she was 9 – she’s a talented young lady!

Following on, The Hipstamatics took to the stage and started off with a Stevie Wonder favourite that led into “Heard it through the Grapevine”, and from then on the grass dance floor was well used.

A dynamic 10-piece band from Auckland, The Hipstamatics certainly had the hips moving in a great show. Their 3-piece brass section was a winner and they all proved very popular with concert goers.

It was a great evening!
