Haiku Reserve, Main Street, Katikati
The Katikati Band played as concert goers flowed into the sun-drenched Haiku Reserve on a balmy Sunday evening for what was to be a fantastic evening of entertainment.
MC Clive Exelby welcomed the 500 strong crowd to the final concert for the 2014 season and set the scene to showcase some incredible local talent. Katikati College youngsters Charlie, Greg, Andrew and Louie, who are Zuhana, were outstanding playing and singing familiar songs that inspired a rousing encore shout.
Standing O were the main act and with eight in their group they had an amazing stage presence. Performing songs from shows involved lots of costume changes. The crowd were treated to some high quality entertainment.
Danni Roberts, Lachlan Fowler and Seth Rackhman performed together for the first time. These friends – who are ex-Katikati College students – got together for the first time during the school holidays to work on a few tunes for the concert and they were a real crowd pleaser.
The last 45 minutes saw Standing O back on stage and the dance floor was packed as concert-goers enjoyed show stoppers including everything from Hakuna Matata to Grease and Saturday Night Fever. As darkness drew closer the concert wound up and revellers went home humming their favourite tunes. A great night was had by all!
