& THE 8 TRACK BAND
Saturday January 9
Main Street, Katikati
Long before YouTube and the iPod, even prior to the compact disc, there were cassettes, vinyl and the 8 track tape. Kiwis and Aussies spent their summers heading to the beach, cooking up a storm on the BBQ or partying into the night to the sounds of real music.
Acclaimed Kiwi actor and singer Shane Cortese has always loved the big New Zealand and Australian rock classics, leading him to form The 8 Track Band, which specialises in playing the big songs that we belt out at the top of our voices, the ones we all know and love and have grown up with – from the likes of Hello Sailor, The Dance Exponents, Split Enz, Icehouse and The Dudes.
With Shane out front on vocals, the band features Chris Jones on lead guitar; Robert Scott (from the Two Robbies Breakfast Show on The Breeze) on rhythm guitar; sax and keyboard virtuoso Pete France; former Push Push rhythm section bassist Steve Abplanalp and drummer Scott Cortese (Shane’s cousin) providing that solid beat all these classic songs call for.
This is not a concert just for the oldies, it’s a two-hour party… with every note played live by some of New Zealand’s best musicians!
Shane Cortese is back and sounding better than ever, and along with the 8 Track Band will ensure the dance floor never empties.
This is a fantastic way to open the new Haiku Stage and give concertgoers a summer party to remember!
