& THE KIWI BANDITS
Sunday January 5, 2014
Haiku Reserve, Main Street, Katikati
Pre-concert rain deterred many from coming along to our first 2014 Twilight Concert, but the enthusiasm of those who attended made up for the small numbers.
Our opening act was Tauranga Girls’ College student (and New Zealand’s Got Talent semi-finalist) Calista who belted out tunes with a huge voice!
The main act – Tim Armstrong and the Kiwibandits – rocked our socks off with rock standards that had the crowd singing along – and dancing.
A surprise treat was the appearance of Ben O’Leary – a previous scholarship winner – and saxophonist Howie Casey – a member of Derry and the Seniors (Liverpool contemporaries of The Beatles) – who has recorded and toured with Paul McCartney.
Below are photos of a great concert on what turned out to be a perfect evening!
