The first of the 2021 Katikati Twilight Concerts got off to a great start with the Wai Taiko Drummers welcoming concert-goers as they settled in for the evening.
Twilight Concert Patron, Rod Calver, presented a Tertiary Study Grant awarded to Forest Chinnery who is going to Massey in Wellington this year to study Music and Art. Forest thanked the Twilight Concert Committee for their support and then MC Mark Goddard got the show underway.
First up was Laura Evans who performed on guitar then keyboard singing a few well-received tunes.
Then it was time for the main act, Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute band. The crowd danced from the first song to the last and participated in some strong vocals when called on to do so by the band.
Crowd participation was outstanding, with the band taking selfies, and they all had a fun-filled time.
Suzie Q was there, and Proud Mary, along with Heard it Through the Grapevine, Rockin’ All Over the World and Bad Moon Rising, to name a few.
An audience of around 1700 enjoyed a balmy Katikati evening at the beautiful Haiku reserve with their families, friends and picnics. It was a great event and now we look forward to the Classic 70s show on January 30th.
