KATIKATI TWILIGHT CONCERTS

Without our volunteers there would be no Twilight Concerts!

We have a wonderful band of men and women: accountants, farmers, electricians, life-stylers, retirées, horticulturalists, teachers, bus drivers: you name it, we have them!

However, over the years some people drop out, for various reasons, so we are always on the lookout for additional helpers.

FUN
We now put on three concerts every summer on the Haiku Reserve in Katikati. On the morning of the concert – we start at 8am – the trucks and crew roll in and we set up a roof and walls around the stage.

It takes a huge effort, but we have a lot of fun too. All sorts of new skills are learnt and shared, from how to build with kiwifruit bins to rigging the concert lighting.

NIGHT SHIFT
After the concert on the Saturday evening, as the audience departs, the crew set to dismantling their work and the whole reserve is left clear that same night. Yes, sometimes we are working in the dark – but car headlights and torches abound.

Three times now we have been honoured by the TrustPower Volunteer Awards, which gives us all a great sense pleasure and a reason to go out as a group and celebrate.

ACHIEVEMENT
So – why not come and join in with us – it’s only three Saturdays during the year and it will give you a great sense of achievement and belonging to the Katikati community.

Please contact us on 07 549 2566 if you are interested in helping – we would be delighted to talk to you.

Business support

Support from the local business community
Approaching their twentieth year, Katikati Twilight Concerts have become one of the most popular events in the Bay of Plenty holiday-time calendar.
A standard feature of summertime in the Bay, the twilight concerts provide relaxed summer evening entertainment in pleasant surroundings for locals and visitors to the area.

Community arts
Money raised by our concert series goes towards community projects:
arts scholarships for young people and funding for community artistic endeavours.
We support Open Air Art, which fosters Katikati’s role as an outdoor art gallery, encompassing murals, scultures, carvings and weaving, the Haiku pathway, Katikati Theatre, Katikati Art Group, Katikati Band and other arts organisations. We welcome grants applications from local arts groups.

Business support
The Twilight Concerts depend for their continuation on the hard work of many volunteers and the generosity of local businesses.
We are grateful for the support we receive and are always on the lookout for more!
We welcome all offers of help towards the hosting of the twilight concerts: please contact us on (07) 549 2566.
